Arkadiusz Wudarski holds the Chair of Polish and European Private Law and Comparative Law at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) in Germany (since 2010) and Professorship at the University of Szczecin in Poland (since 2023); formerly Head of the Chair of Civil Law, Procedural Law and Comparative Private Law at the University of Zielona Góra (2014 – 2022) and Research Group on European Private Law and Comparative Law at Jan Długosz University, Częstochowa (2010 – 2014). Legal studies at the Silesian University in Katowice, doctoral and postdoctoral degree at the University of Hamburg (advisor: Prof. Dr. P. Mankowski), venia legendi in German civil law, European private law and comparative law; professor of Polish civil law; MA in German language studies and pedagogy; certified translator, attorney at law. Research fellowships awarded by Polish, German, Austrian, Swiss and American institutions including e.g. the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP HOMING programme), the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation (FWPN), the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS), the Polish-German Foundation for Science (PNFN), Austrian Academic Exchange Service (ÖAD), German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the National Science Centre (NCN OPUS programme), Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA The Bekker programme), Collegium Helveticum (UZH/ETH/ZHdK), Kosciuszko Foundation (TKF). Holder of the Award of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland for outstanding postdoctoral achievements (habilitation). Visiting professor at the University of Vienna (2012/2013) and at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (2023); Vice-President (2016 – 2019) and General Secretary (2013 – 2016) of Societas Humboldtiana Polonorum; member of the advisory board of the Association of the Institute for Economic Law of Central and Eastern Europe (FOWI) at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, Association of Professors of Private Law for the German-language Countries (ZLV), International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL), American Society of Comparative Law ( ASCL) and Academia Europaea (AE). Member of the Scientific Board of ‘Studia Iuridica’, ‘Rejent’, ‘Prawo Europejskie w praktyce’, ‘Comparative Law Review’, ‘Studia Prawnicze’. International Law and Intergation Problems ‘Beynəlxalq hüquq və inteqrasiya problemləri’ [Azerbaijan, Baku], Georgian-German Journal of Comparative Law – ‘შედარებითი სამართლისქართულ-გერმანული ჟურნალი’ [Georgia, Tbilisi], the Scientific Journal of the Caucasus International University – ‘კავკასიის საერთაშორისო უნივერსიტეტის სამეცნიერო ჟურნალი’ [Georgia, Tbilisi]. Together with Professor Giorgi Khubua, Professor Arkadiusz Wudarski is also the founder and co-head of the Association of Polish and Georgian Lawyers. Research interests: European private law, Polish and German family and property law, law of succession, banking and insurance law, private international law, notary law, as well as legal culture, europeanization of private law and comparative private law.

 

The lecture is supported by the Kosciuszko Foundation; It will take place as part of the activities of the "Georgian-Polish Lawyers Association".
